a) Best piece of creative work
My teams ENG1000 project. Although the overall design was a team decision, they utilized many of my ideas and i was responsible for its construction. Each level is made up of a square that is rotated 45 degrees and 5mm smaller in width to the level below it. The walls are triangular panels that are slanted in and out, having an accordion-like effect. The objective was to protect an egg suspended at the centre while the tower supports a 5Kg load and an impact at the base. At submission the tower weighed under 150g and was the second lightest tower in the cohort and successfully protected the egg.
b)Great piece of architecture
Toyo Ito's Sendai Mediatheque, Japan, was constructed in 2000 from his competition winning design, serving as a multimedia library and function center. The outer skin is completely transparent allowing the maximum amount of natural lighting and each floor is suspended in the air by the 12 fluid like columns.
c)Original photograph
Photo of the ocean taken while i was a cruise to New Zealand in January and probably one of the most relaxing holidays I've been on. I was so fascinated how the waves the the water seem so smooth and glossy to my eye even though they were made up of endless rough patches of water. This was very effective in showing the scale of the ocean, it's actually so large that so many small disturbances don't alter the bigger image.
